For over 14 years, IDfy has been at the forefront of fraud and risk mitigation, where we’ve seen how so many cases of fraud and spam trace back to one root cause: consent gone wrong.
That realization sparked a powerful question: what if individuals could truly understand and control how their data is used?
Could we build a consent management system that truly protects the rights of 1.4 billion Indians?
In 2018, Ashok Hariharan, CEO of IDfy, contributed to the Justice Srikrishna Committee, helping shape the foundation of India’s privacy framework. By 2022, well before the DPDP Act came into force, that question evolved into a mission:To empower 1.4 billion Indians with rights over their data, and enable enterprises to operationalize those rights with confidence, transparency, and control.
That mission became Privy by IDfy – India’s first Privacy and Data Governance Platform. Privy helps enterprises move from policy to practice, by embedding control across the consent, data, and risk lifecycle – turning privacy from a compliance checkbox into an operational reality.
Evolving the Mission
What began with consent soon expanded into a complete privacy control stack connecting data governance, compliance automation, and risk management into one intelligent system.
Built community and thought leadership through WhatsApp forums, The Privy Times, guidebooks, and deep-dive reports
Educated the ecosystem with comics, webinars, and interactive privacy courses
Hosted DPDPA roundtables across insurance, NBFCs, capital markets, digital-native, and banking sectors
Partnered with DSCI for PriView and organized events that strengthened India’s privacy ecosystem

Privy was recognised as the winner of MeitY-NeGD DPDP Innovation Challenge, reaffirming our role in shaping India’s privacy and consent management ecosystem.
Today, Privy supports DPDPA implementation efforts with over 30+ live enterprise clients, 40+ successful POCs, and 300+ consultations delivered across industries, demonstrating that privacy can be operationalised in a way that is practical, scalable, and impactful for organisations in India.
About the Founder
As Founder and CEO of IDfy, Ashok Hariharan is building Asia’s leading TrustStack, helping banks, fintechs, and high-growth enterprises stop fraud, reduce risk, and make privacy and consent simple for large organizations.
A strong advocate for consent-first ecosystems,, Ashok believes that risk intelligence and responsible data use are essential for businesses to scale safely and ethically.
He holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business and a BSEE from Penn State University, and continues to champion India’s privacy evolution through product innovation, ecosystem collaboration, and policy engagement.
