MeitY is the Government of India ministry responsible for driving digital initiatives, including policy and ecosystem development related to digital personal data protection and DPDP implementation.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is the central government ministry responsible for initiatives related to digital infrastructure, technology policies, and digital governance in India. In the context of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), MeitY has played a key role in supporting the development and implementation of India’s personal data protection ecosystem.

MeitY has been involved in initiatives aimed at enabling organizations and technology providers to build solutions aligned with the DPDP framework. One such initiative was the MeitY–NeGD DPDP Innovation Challenge, which evaluated Consent Management Systems designed to support practical implementation of DPDP requirements.
